I had the honor of participating in the 39th Biennial Convention of the African Methodist Episcopal Church Connectional Lay Organization. On Thursday morning we were led by Seventh Episcopal District Lay President Keith Britton and Seventh Episcopal District Director of Lay Activities Darlene Ravenel, in a poignant moment of remembrance for the Emanuel Nine, titled “We Speak Your Names.”
During this convention, we had a powerful opportunity to remember the lives that were lost and forever changed by the tragic events at Mother Emanuel AME Church. As we sat together, I couldn't help but reflect on the day when we learned that Morris Brown AME Church was the second church on the list of the convicted murderer.
This shared experience of remembrance binds us together as a community, and it's a reminder of the vigilance we must maintain in our work for God. I encourage you to watch this interview. - Rev. Dr. James A. Keeton, Jr.
